Dear Band:

I am very excited about the coming Veterans Concert. I am also excited that the audience will have the opportunity to hear the results of your efforts. Thank you for working so hard on this music. Thank you for inviting your family, friends, and neighbors. It will be an enjoyable performance for everyone.

Remember that our dress rehearsal will be on Oct. 31st in the sanctuary. I will need help that morning setting up the chairs and stands. We will not have the stage for this concert so arranging the stage area will take longer than usual. I will need 3 or 4 volunteers to help at 10:00 Tuesday morning on the 31st.

The dress for the concert will be concert-black. That is tuxedos (or black/dark suites, white shirts, black tie, and black shoes) for men. For ladies all black. Let me know if you have any questions.

Call time for the dress rehearsal on the 31st is regular band time (6:00 PM). Call time for the concert on Nov 5th is 2:00 PM. The concert will start at 3:00. As a reminder, day light savings time (DST) ends on the morning of Nov 5th. That means you will be setting your clocks back the morning of the concert. Yikes! What could go wrong?

I have been in contact with the City of Gainesville and Main Street Market about this year’s Jingle Mingle. They are VERY excited to hear that we will be participating again this year. For those that have not been a part of this before it is a very “laid-back” time where we play Christmas music, Santa arrives on a fire truck, there are free carriage rides and kiddie train rides, and yes, don’t forget the lighting of the Big Chicken on top of Main Street Market. HOWEVER, the date on our website is incorrect. The event will be on November 16th not the 15th.

We will only have 2 rehearsals to prepare for the Jingle Mingle but the music is very easy and did I mention “laid-back?” So, after the Veterans Concert on Nov. 5th, please plan on rehearsing the next 2 Tuesdays. After the Jingle Mingle on Nov. 17th we will be off for a well-deserved break until after the holidays. We will start meeting again on the second Tuesday in January.

I want us to stay focused on the Veterans music so I will send out a list of Jingle Mingle music next week.
