Dear Band,
I appreciate your willingness to work as hard as you are to get the music prepared for the upcoming Patriotic Concert. I was at church yesterday and three people took the time to mention how much they were looking forward to the concert.
Just a personal word about where we stand as far as preparation. Last week’s rehearsal does not reflect how well prepared we are. We, (Bill Risinger) has worked on the clarinet, flute and trumpet parts. In many cases he has dropped the voicing an octave. We should not have the problems we did last week. I WILL HAVE NEW PARTS FOR THE FLUTES AND CLARINETS AT REHEARSAL TUESDAY.
If you don’t mind, I would like to extend the rehearsal about 15 minutes for both the June 10th and the June 17th rehearsals. I feel as if we need the extra time. Thank you for your understanding.
I have asked John to give us another week to get our parts down a little better. We are also going to have Keith Jeffcoat at rehearsal on June 17 to play the piano accompaniment parts to help us get a better feel for what the pieces will sound like. Following, FYI, is some information that John and I are working toward.
June 10 – Rehearse band/choir selections and on all selections as time allows. Rehearsal extended until 7:45.
June 17 – Rehearsal on all selections. Keith will be at this rehearsal. Rehearsal extended until 7:45.
June 23 – Maintenance crew to set up platform in sanctuary.
June 24 – Band rehearsal begins at 6 p.m.; John will work with the band on the selections that he will conduct. The choir will join the rehearsal at 7p.m. The band will be dismissed at 8 p.m., but the choir may stay until 8:30.
June 25 – Band call time is 6:45; combined dress rehearsal begins at 7 p.m. and will conclude by 8:30. This rehearsal will include narration and media.
June 29 – Joint call time at 3 p.m. in sanctuary for photos in concert attire concert is at 4 p.m.
Hopefully this will give you a “heads up” on the activities.
I do appreciate your willingness to participate and your pride in wanting to do a good job. Thanks!
See you Tuesday,
Richard
