Dear Believers,

During our rehearsal this Monday, we can’t spend too much time on Star Wars Saga.  Michelle Martin will be there to run through When I Fall in Love, Moon River and On a Clear Day.  We will also need to spend time on Fantasy Adventure at the Movies, The Sound of Music, and The Best of James Bond. 

This is the tentative order of music for our Movie Matinee Concert:

Playing straight through each piece may not be the most effective way to practice. One method
of practicing that I recommend is the whole – part – whole method:

  • Whole – Play through the whole piece (with or without the recording) and make note of
    the parts that need attention.
  •  Part – go back and work on the parts (measures, phrases, etc…) to fix problems (wrong
    rhythms, notes, articulations, dynamics, intonation)
  • Whole – then put it back together and play the whole piece keeping the improved sections
    (with or without the recording May 7 2023 Concert Practice Tracts). As you listen and
    play along with the recordings, listen for who has the melody, how your part fits into the
    overall picture, and practice appropriate dynamic levels.

If everyone truly practices just twice a week, it will make our performance infinitely better!

  • Saturday, May 6, 10:00 am – 12 noon:  Dress rehearsal GFUMC Sanctuary
  • Sunday, May 7, 3:00 pm – Movie Matinee Concert
  • Sunday, May 21, 8:30 am – Lakeside Service
  • Thursday, June 8, 6:30 pm – Concert at Cresswind
  • Wednesday, June 21, 6:30 – 9:00 pm – Dress rehearsal for Patriotic Concert
  • Sunday, June 25, 4:00 pm – Patriotic Concert with the GFUMC Choir

Let’s make our Movie Matinee Concert awesome and an appropriate dedication to Larry Preiss.
