Dear Believers:
We hope you are all well. We miss you and we miss making music with you. The Board met recently to discuss how and when we might be able to reconvene safely.
Because we are faced with lots of uncertainties, determining the path forward for the Believers Band requires us to face lots of confusing, and sometimes conflicting information. In that endeavor, the Believers Band has sought advice from our own front-line doctors, Rodney Smith and Jim Leigh. They have offered us a useful process for interpreting scientific information as it becomes available.
We will be looking for a vaccine or a combination of vaccines with 90% effectiveness and an adequate treatment for those who get infected. When these are available, we will resume regular full band rehearsals and schedule performances. Until then, starting back will be voluntary small groups rehearsing in member’s driveways, back yards, and other outdoor venues. All of these events will be subject to recommended safety precautions. We have already begun to plan.
John LaForge has asked David to put a group together to perform at a lakeside service on September 13 at GFUMC. David has selected members to compose a small brass group that will perform subject to appropriate safety measures.
Please look forward to a short survey to come in your email regarding small group participation, rehearsal locations and performance opportunities.
Unfortunately, the Veteran’s Day Concert has been cancelled. The decision to participate in the Jingle Mingle and Christmas on Green Street has yet to be determined. We will notify you as soon as we have a decision. We are planning our first full band concert to be in Spring of 2021, provided it is safe to do so. Small group gatherings (rehearsing and fun, but no hugging!) will begin as soon as possible.
Keep an eye out for our survey in your email. Stay safe! We promise to keep in touch with you as our plans develop.
Musically Yours in Christ,
