Dear Band:

I am so excited to start off the 2019-2020 season!

The first thing that I would like to say is that the Beach Bash Concert was awesome!!  You really played well and the audience was truly appreciative!   I would like to pass on a comment from one of our members after listening to Ron Foster’s equally awesome recording of our concert, “I just finished listening to our concert and I just have to say, “Wow!”  I sincerely believe that is the best we have sounded since I joined the band about 5 years ago! … I mean, Damn!”

Our summer has been filled with sun and fun, family and friends!  My prayer is that you, too, have had an opportunity to slow down a bit, sip some lemonade and rejoice in the beauty of God’s Creation!

Here again is the schedule for the fall:

  • Rehearsals begin – Tuesday, August 6th
  • Lakeside Service – Sunday, September 22nd
  • Veteran’s Day Concert – Sunday, November 10
  • Jingle Mingle Performance – Saturday, November 23 (Downtown Gainesville)
  • No Rehearsals – Thanksgiving Break – Tuesday, November 26th & December 3rd
  • Rehearsals resume – Tuesday, December 10
  • No Rehearsals – Christmas Break – Tuesday, December 24 – 31
  • Rehearsals resume – Tuesday, January 7th, 2020

The rest of the season is coming together nicely.  I’ll have that out to you soon.

I have my baton warming up already!  I trust that you are ready to blow the cobwebs off of your instruments and remember which end to blow into because rehearsals start on this coming Tuesday, August 6thfrom 6-7:30pm.

Here is some music for the first rehearsal:

  •   41 – National Emblem March
  • 194 – Within These Hallowed Halls
  • 429 – Irving Berlin’s Songs for America
  • 520 – America the Beautiful
  • 533 – The Star-Spangled Banner
  • 552 – Armed Forces Salute
  • 603 – Hymn to the Fallen
  • 644 – Normandy Beach
  • 666 – The Greatest Generation

I am ordering a few pieces, some suggested by members, to sight read in the next few weeks and some warm-up material!  I am always open and appreciative of suggestions!  Now where did I put that Johann Suggestion Box!?

Blessings!
