Dear Band:
It will be great to be in the sanctuary on Tuesday. It sounds different than in the choir room. We need to play confidently like we do in the choir room so be sure to practice. There is a funeral in the sanctuary so we won’t be able to get in until 5:00pm. Please come at 5:00 to help set up.
This is the schedule for Tuesday:
5:00 – 6:00 pm – Set-up chairs, stands and percussion in the sanctuary
6:00 pm – Warm-up
6:05 pm – Tune
6:10 pm – Rehearse – Carrickfergus and The Blessing with Lisa
6:25 pm – Rehearse the concert in order (skipping Carrickfergus and The Blessing)
7:45 pm – End rehearsal – Pray
Please help put everything away (chairs, stands and percussion)
This is the order for the concert:
533 The Star Spangled Banner
699 An Irish Rhapsody
702 Irish Tune from County Derry
704 Carrickfergus
701 The Irish Baker
Intermission
703 The Wearing of the Green – Tempo 144 – 152
700 The Lord of the Dance
705 The Blessing
698 Dublin Dances
This is the schedule for Sunday:
12:30 pm – Set-up chairs and stands in sanctuary and choir room.
1:30 pm – Warm-up in sanctuary – Just to get comfortable with the hall.
Each piece: beginning, end and transitions.
2:00 pm – Move into the choir room and get changed into Irish outfits
2:30 pm – Finish warm-up, tune in choir room (bring music stands)
2:50 pm – Pray and Enter sanctuary
3:00 pm – Concert begins.
Here are some recordings to help as you practice. They are not exactly the interpretation (tempos, fermatas, etc…) that we will do:
- Irish Rhapsody – Clare Grundman
- Irish Tune from County Derry – Percy Grainger
- Carrickfergus – Patrick Roszell – with vocal solo
- The Irish Baker – Robert Longfield
- Wearing of the Green
- Lord of the Dance – Richard Saucedo
- The Blessing – with vocalist
- Dublin Dances – Jan Van der Roost
Irish Proverb – He who loses money, loses much; he who loses a friend, loses more; he who loses faith, loses all.
Blessings,
David
